What do the inputs on the left side of the web page mean?

On the left side of the page we display the categories and locations relevant to the search results. If you e.g. are searching for “Thomas Meyer” in “Hamburg”, then you can either page through 7 pages of results individually, or refine your search by choosing a category or a specific location. Refining the results is usually faster.

How can typos and misspellings be “ignored”?

The search solution on GENIALOTEL is based on a mathematical algorithm in which similarities can be determined between two strings based on the number of inserts and deletes needed to convert one to the other (see www.levenshtein.de). All entries in the database are scanned within milliseconds so as to extract those entries which are most similar. Our database of approx. 30 million entries requires a very potent search engine to deliver fault-tolerant results so quickly…
